  It is very possible your opponent used Guard Break or one of the many skills that penetrates block.

  You can also shoot the player in the foot if they are blocking. Any visible body part can take damage while blocking. Not sure if that is intended or not.

  I think this is a desync issue, where you on your client look like you are guarding but the server registers the hit landing before it gets the guard input. Thus it goes through and you get fucked. It's also very noticeable with AoE skills on mage, where people literally walk through the center of Lightning or get hit straight on by Rocket Punch and take no damage (not guarding btw, because i know those skills can be guarded against).

  I am victim of the same issue. Shields must work better.
